Alan Day Community Garden
The Alan Day Community Garden was without electricity and had difficulty during dry growing seasons irrigating the garden plots there. A pump was needed to raise water from a dug well in order to irrigate sufficiently. Also, lights were needed in the barn for teaching workshops and offering presentations to community members. CEBE collaborated with the ADCG in writing a grant to the Maine Community Foundation which was funded. Shawn Kane, a founding member of CEBE, and Jesse Cottingham, a local community member with years of solar experience, worked together to build and implement the system. The Alan Day Community Garden now has sustainable means to light their barn and operate their irrigation system. For more information about solar power, please contact Shawn Kane or email email@example.com
