Resilient Communities Restoring the Earth
National Climate Assessment
The National Climate Assessment summarizes the impacts of climate change on the United States, now and in the future. A team of more than 300 experts guided by a 60-member Federal Advisory Committee produced the report, which was extensively reviewed by the public and experts, including federal agencies and a panel of the National Academy of Sciences.
UMaine Maine Climate News
Recognizing the need for a centralized, neutral source of climate information specific to Maine, University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant created Maine Climate News in partnership with George Jacobson, Maine State Climatologist, in 2009. The site is intended to be a portal to climate change science and research at the University of Maine and beyond, as well as a resource for news and climate-related activities throughout the state. The site is updated quarterly.
Climate Change Institute
The Climate Change Institute is an interdisciplinary research unit organized to conduct research and graduate education focused on variability of Earth's climate, ecosystems, and other environmental systems and on the interaction between humans and the natural environment. The Institute provides expertise on climate-related matters to the people and governments of Maine, the Nation, and beyond.
Plausible Scenerio Planning
The University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute and associated partners offer unique expertise and research tools of considerable value in developing Climate Adaptation and Sustainability (CLAS) plans for Maine communities. CLAS planning can also serve beyond Maine as a model for national and international communities.
We have an entire library, full of useful information from gardening, permaculture, and plants, to alternative energy sources and building techniques.
