NATIONAL DRIVE ELECTRIC WEEK, September 14-22, 2019, is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. They are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Are you considering going electric? Come talk to owners who have successfully done so.

Started in 2011 as National Plug In Day with the simple idea to hold simultaneous events across the country on the same day, by popular demand, we have expanded to an entire week of events and changed the name to emphasize the thing we all want to do: drive electric. We expect National Drive Electric Week 2019 will again grow to include more events in more cities with more drivers reaching out to share the many advantages of driving electric with the public.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 2017

For 2017 we have been able to step up our game with solar panels on a tracker that moves with the sun to get the highest efficiency to power three EV charging stations at the high school, right in the middle of our community between Norway and South Paris. Thank you to so many people that volunteered their energy, expertise and donated funds to the project including Tony Giambro, John Cates, and Travis Ritchie at Paris Autobarn; Adam Baril and Guy Merrill from Electrical Solutions in Auburn for running the electrical and donating time with the boom truck; to Fred Garbo and Shawn Kane of Garbo-Kane Solar for installing the solar tracker; to Rusty Partridge of Black Dog Timberworks; to Jason Shiers and team for doing the excavation work;  to Scott Vlaun for working out the details; to Darryl Collins and Jasper Vlaun for helping with the installation; to Rick Colpitts and the rest of the Oxford Hill's MSAD17 School Board for graciously receiving the gift and working with everyone on logistics; and to the Towns of Norway and South Paris for their support.

In 2016 a brand new charger was installed courtesy of the Town of Paris, The Center for an Ecology-Based Economy, Barry Woods of Electric Mobility NE, Garbo-Kane Solar, and Paris Autobarn. It's completely free to use and is conveniently located on the side of the Paris Police Department.

In 2014–15 the first municipal EV Charging Station in the State was installed at the Longley Square thanks to a donation to CEBE from ReVision Energy. The Town of Norway's Dennis Yates completed the installation and Fred Garbo took care of the signage and so much more.

Brian Kent

Carbon Negative Road Trip

Brian took his 100% electric Nissan Leaf on the ultimate road trip and toured all the lower 48 states, planting trees along the way. He traveled over 43,000 miles over the course of about 8 months, in a car with about an 80 mile range. He even stopped to charge in South Paris, at Paris Autobarn!

Please contact us if you would like to showcase your electric vehicle or related product, or if you would like to speak at our event. We are also looking for some food vendors to attend.
