Dear Supporter,

It’s been an exciting and fruitful year for CEBE with the addition of higher impact projects and collaborations with our on-going efforts. 2018 looks to be even more impactful as our community engagement deepens and widens. Some of this year’s highlights:

  • The community's Earth Day Celebration was bigger and better than ever with 14 events including a Trash Bash in all area towns, bird walk, speakers from our community including Jesse Wall from TruStrength Athletics, inter-faith minister Sarah Shepley, Don Mayberry from the 1st Congregational Church, followed by a Main Street Parade, Community Sing, concert and dance performances at Café Nomad with hundreds participating in the week-long event.
  • The second annual Foothills Food Festival featured over 20 area farmers, local food vendors and brewers, live music, keynote speakers including Marge Kilkelly and Bonnie Rukin, local art, hands-on workshops, and education from area non-profits attracting over 1500 people to downtown Norway. (See our new promo video!)
  • Our third EV Expo celebrated the activation of our 3 solar-powered electric vehicle chargers at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School while hosting 40 electric vehicles and eBikes, and facilitating over 100 test drives and rides.
  • CEBE’s first test-build for WindowDressers engaged local volunteers and cranked out 30 interior storm windows to help reduce energy consumption in area homes.
  • Selection by the US Department of Energy to participate in their Solar in your Community Challenge to make locally generated solar power available to local businesses and low- and moderate-income households.
  • Our two-week intensive Permaculture Designers Course focused on community sustainability and social permaculture attracted students and teachers from around the state and beyond.

With your support, CEBE will continue to build community resilience and sustainability in 2018. In the coming year, look for:

  • Enhanced Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in the Western Foothills area and another region-wide EV Expo on September 15th, 2018 to promote post-carbon mobility and our next Foothills Food Festival on August 11th, 2018.
  • CEBE’s first Community Solar Farm going live to make renewable energy more affordable and widely available in our community for low- to middle-income households.
  • More Films, Speakers, Workshops, and other public events to raise awareness about climate instability and resource depletion, and frame a positive, community-driven response
  • Continued community engagement in the development of a MakerSpace, Regenerative Agriculture Research and Education, Local Food Systems, Earth Day Celebration the week of April 22nd, 2018, and more…

You are integral to our continued success on this collective journey toward a Resilient and Sustainable Local Economy based on ecological resources. Please help us build on our momentum by including CEBE in your year-end charitable giving. We’ll put every dollar you give to work in your community to foster local food security, renewable energy production, accessible clean transportation, and affordable efficient housing. The support of people like you makes CEBE’s work possible. Your donation now will help propel us toward a more hopeful and resilient future.

Thanks for your Support!
